To enable ongoing construction work and service diversions essential to the development of Multi Development's £360m SouthGate regeneration scheme, the following highway diversions will come into effect by Tuesday 26th June 2007.
Until mid-November this year, Dorchester Street will change to a one-way system, with all traffic moving in a westerly direction - that is from Bath Spa Railway Station towards Churchill Bridge. Both Railway Street and Newark Street will close permanently and access to businesses in Railway Street and Kingston Road will be via Manvers Street. Eastbound traffic to follow diversion signs.
New Orchard Street will open as a bus and taxi lane, with traffic moving one-way in an Easterly direction.
The developers and Contractors, Sir Robert McAlpine and HBG UK, are working with Bath & North East Somerset Council to minimise disruption to pedestrians and vehicle traffic in the Southgate area and apologise for any inconvenience caused by these essential highway changes.
