Construction
Q. Do you expect SouthGate to open on time?
A. SouthGate is programmed to open in phases. Phase I is programmed to finish in 2009 with the shops along Southgate and the new bus station open to the public. Phases II & III are programmed for completion in 2010, and will see the remaining shops including Debenhams open and the upgrade to Bath Spa Railway Station complete.
Q. How can I contact the contractors?
A. Sir Robert Mc Alpine and HBG Construction are members of the considerate contractors scheme and a contractor hotline is available, should a member of the public need to contact the developers urgently.
The considerate contractor telephone number is 01225 324196.
Q. What is being done to keep disruption to a minimum?
A. Multi Development UK Ltd, Morley and contractors Sir Robert McAlpine and HBG Construction all have vast experience in developing city centre regeneration schemes across the UK and Europe. We are conscious that the area surrounding the development site will be open for business and trading as usual.
The majority of works will take place behind the perimeter hoardings, acting as a safety barrier and shield to the building site.
Viewing grills are installed at intervals around the perimeter hoardings, to allow the public to see what is going.
When any major disruption is likely to take place, those in close proximity to the development will receive notification from us, advising what is taking place, when it will take place and how it may affect neighbours of the site.
Traffic reports will be issued to the local media to advise well in advance of any likely road or lane closures.
Q. When did construction start?
A. Construction on SouthGate started in February 2007.
